Heavy Smoke and Fleas at This House We Just Purchased in Grand Island, FL (VIDEO)

Hey, this is Matt with My Florida Home Buyers. And today, I’m standing outside of a house that we just purchased right here in Grand Island, Florida. Let’s take a look.

All right, so like I said this house is located in Grand Island, Florida. It’s in Lake County, Florida just Northwest of Orlando out here in Lake County. And we just bought this house, this is our first purchase of 2022. And this one was actually a foreclosure so we didn’t actually meet the sellers or anything like that. It was a foreclosure. And from what we can tell the house was tenant-occupied until it got foreclosed on.

We Buy Houses in Grand Island, FL

So just a little, ranch-style house here. A lot of houses like this in this area were all built by the same builder, you know, back in the day. And we’re pretty familiar with ’em. This one has the same layout as a lot of our other rentals and stuff like that so we should be able to get this one turned over pretty quick. So yeah, just a little ranch house here. It actually looks pretty decent from the outside. The roof does need to be replaced ’cause you can tell it’s getting a little older. And then you’ll see inside, there’s a lot of nasty smoke, nicotine type stuff inside that we’ll see in just a second here. And some other stuff that’s a little bit busted up but nothing too crazy. So I’ll take you through, I’ll show you the inside of the house and in the backyard, so let’s take a look.

This House in Grand Island, FL is Full of Cigarette Smoke

All right, so I’m walking inside the house now. And the first thing that hits you is cigarette smoke. It reeks of smoke in here, they were heavy smokers. I mean you can see on the walls where they had their pictures and stuff hung where the tar or the nicotine or whatever left little outlines and stuff. So they were definitely heavy smokers. I don’t know which color or what color these walls are supposed to be, but they’re definitely a nice nicotine yellow, brown-yellow now. So pretty disgusting, but we’ll get it cleaned up.

Avoid Foreclosure in Grand Island, FL

As I said, this was a foreclosure and it was tenant occupied before it got foreclosed on. So the tenants obviously left some stuff here. There’s even food in the fridge if anybody’s hungry, just a little basic kitchen, it looks like the original kitchen. It’s the same kitchen that they put in all of these houses back in the day. And then the dishwasher is actually free-standing separate. So there’s not a built-in dishwasher so I guess that’s how they got around it. But that’s basically the kitchen and the living room right there. Not super big or anything, little living room.

So, and then all the bedrooms are down this hallway. So we’ve got bedroom number one here, just a little bedroom, on the smaller side it’s got some nasty carpet down there. That’ll have to be ripped out. Next up in the hallway, we’ve got the bathroom. This is the only bathroom in this house so it’s a three-bedroom, one full bath. And looks like a pretty standard little bathroom. We got some blue, baby blue tile on the walls. That’s about it, a little dirty, and everything is just covered in nicotine tar, whatever that stuff is. Another bedroom here, another little small bedroom.

And then this over here I guess this would be as close to the master as you can get in this house, it’s the largest bedroom. And on this one, this house doesn’t have a half bath but a lot of these houses actually have a half bath where this master closet, this walk-in closet is. So this one, unfortunately, doesn’t have the half bath but some of ’em do and they can be converted to have a bathroom over there if needed.

The Garage is Full of Fleas

So let me walk you out here. I’ll show you the garage real quick. And the back of the house and we’ll get this one wrapped up. So this is the garage, it’s a little one-car garage here looks like they left a refrigerator, some other junk. And this must have been where they kept the dog or the cat ’cause the fleas are just tearing up my ankles. So I’m gonna get out back here, away from that.

This House in Grand Island, FL Has a Large Backyard

So this is the back of the house here. Not much to see, it’s got a nice, really nice sycamore tree here. So that’s good. It also has a pretty big backyard, nice and spacious. And there’s the little house right there. So like I said, not much to see on this one but it’ll make a nice little rental property. I think that’s what we’re gonna do with it. And hopefully, we can get it cleaned up and get somebody in here pretty quick. So I’m gonna walk back through and I’ll see you out front.

All right, so I’m back out front now. Just finished getting all the fleas off my ankles it’s filled with fleas in there they’re just shredding my ankles. You’d think I’d be used to it by now with how many times I’ve been in houses and been attacked by fleas, but you never get used to it. So anyway, as I said, this is our newest purchase here.
